The first step of a long, fruitful journey! We took the leap, acquired our C39 roofing license, and founded our company under its original name Affordable Roofing. The mission we set out with was to professionalize the local Bay Area roofing industry and deliver truly top-of-class customer service.

Within two short years, we became one of the 1st contractors to earn the coveted GAF Master Elite Roofer status. A real honor. Only 3% of roofers nationwide achieve this distinction. And we’ve continued to maintain it throughout the years.

Two short years later, we were featured in Western Roofing Magazine through hard work, dedication to the details, and consistently excellent customer service. That year we also became the GAF Triple-Excellence award winner for the first of many times over the next couple of decades.

After the turn of the century, we became the first company to introduce ESP Low-E Reflective insulation to California. This led to us adding a C2 insulation contracting license to our credentials. We also won the GAF Triple-Excellence award again!

Moving forward as an early leader in the Green energy movement, we introduced the first Energy Efficiency Packages (Attic Venting, Low-E Skylights, and Insulation). And again, we won the GAF Triple-Excellence award for the third time in a row.

We worked with major American roofing manufacturers to get Low-E reflective insulation approved to install directly under shingles. This year we were also voted the Best Local Roofing Contractor (Gilroy) and maintained our spot as a GAF Triple-Excellence Award winner.

2008 was a transformative year for our humble, family-run roofing company. We hired energy specialist Jonathan Garcia and launched our Solar Energy design and installation program on the laurels of earning his B.S. in Environmental Sciences. He placed his California State C46 Solar Contractor’s License with our company (and yep, we won GAF’s Triple-Excellence Award again).

It took us a year, but we began working on the first round of solar installs deployed through our roofing customers. Gilroy again voted us in as the Best Local Roofing Contractor, and our Triple-Excellence Award streak continued!

Once we started offering roofing + solar energy services, we went full steam ahead and rebranded the company as Affordable Roofing & Solar. We had brilliant designers consult with solar roofing manufacturers on best roofing practices for solar products and designed flashing details for BIPV products. This year, Morgan Hill voted us as the Best Local Roofing Contractor, and we claimed the Triple-Excellence Award again!

In 2012, we were featured in Sunset, and El Decor magazines for solar roofing BIPV installs. Morgan Hill voted us the best again, and our streak of Triple-Excellence kept truckin’.

This year, we created one of the first official Energy Efficiency Programs and became Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified. We also began offering Comprehensive Energy Assessments (CEA’s) with energy engineers to “Go solar the right way.” This approach maximizes the ROI of solar while empowering clients to make data-driven decisions to increase home comfort and safety. We coined the phrase “Reduce before you Produce,” and were voted Best Local Solar Contractor in Morgan Hill, and added another Triple-Excellence Award.

This year, we continued to innovate and piloted/tested AC solar panels and Grid-tied Smart Battery systems. Morgan Hill once again voted for us as the Best Local Solar Contractor, and our collection of Triple-Excellence Awards continued to grow.

Thanks to our outstanding success and overwhelming customer satisfaction, we recognized it was time to grow! We rebranded our company as Simmitri Inc. and launched a new brand based on a holistic approach to Roofing, Solar, and Clean Energy. We also moved our corporate headquarters to Silicon Valley, were voted as the Best Local Solar Contractor (Morgan Hill), and got another Triple-Excellence Award.

In 2016, we launched our first battery storage program and piloted it with our existing solar customers. We also started offering EV charging station services and expanded our shelf of Triple-Excellence Awards.

This year, we developed solar and roofing certification training programs for contractors. Another exciting development was launching our Customer Communication mobile app 1.0 to provide better customer experiences during and after installations. This year we got the GAF Triple-Excellence Award AND became a Presidents Club Winner.

This year, we launched our Commercial Energy and Roofing Services division. We earned another Triple-Excellence Award, maintained our distinction as a Presidents Club Winner, and got BCS Gold Vendor certified for HOA’s.

We launched Signature Rain Gutter and Metal Works to serve our roofing clients better and to expand our suite of complete home energy efficiency business offerings. We added D24- C60 metal products contractor’s license. GAF Triple Excellence award and GAF Presidents Club Winner!

We appointed Jonathan García as our second-generation CEO after he graduated from Stanford’s Scaling Excellence program and reinvested in resources to solidify company culture and scaling efforts. We implemented Stanford’s business scaling model. Created and implemented the “Share the Light” humanitarian program. Partnered with nonprofits to help facilitate action and positive impact. GAF Triple Excellence award winner. GAF Presidents Club Winner. Enphase Energy Gold vendor certified.

Launched Simmitri customer mobile app 2.0, which adds automatic customer project updates, document and video repository, energy monitoring, customer rewards program, and the ability to give back and participate in the Share the Light sustainability and humanitarian program. State of California small business contractor certified for public works projects.

Another incredible year! We doubled employee size and began offering corporate energy solutions, enabling commercial business energy transformation for light industrial, agriculture, local retail businesses, and more. We were also accepted into Apple’s prestigious Impact Accelerator Program. Very exciting! We’re now involved in Greening Apple’s supply chain while empowering communities through energy independence, adding diversity, reducing costs, and amplifying the global push for clean energy.
