Rush Order was looking to reduce their bills for their growing business. They wanted to hire a solar contractor that had roofing experience to ensure their flat roof would maintain long term integrity to match the life of the solar system.

Challenges
During the site visit, we found that the flat roof was in fair condition but not good enough for a solar installation. We needed to find the most cost effective way to keep the financials for the project positive while eliminating long term roof issues and risk. We also found out that the roof was not strong enough to support the weight of a typical flat roof ballasted racking solution.
Simmitri’s Solution
Before the solar install, Simmitri installed a 20 year silicone cool roof system under the solar system instead of the entire roof to keep within the budget. This not only provides waterproofing, but it also serves as an energy efficiency measure. We designed a solar system that uses a lighter weight elevated racking solution that sits higher off the roof deck. The space created between the roof deck and the solar panels allows us to easily maintain the roof under the solar system in the future.
