Simmitri installed our Enphase solar panels and later our battery system. They did a terrific job. Our system runs well after three years. They were good to work with. Their office helped us with the California document submission. We are pleased!

After interviewing 3 solar companies I selected Simmiti for my dolar installation. The planning and submissions to PGE and SCCounty Building were done in a timely manner. The installation crew was superb. The inspector was highly impressed with the installation. Ana, my PM, stayed on all parties to get the final steps of approvals. I highly recommend Simmitri for your solar project. 9/12/2025 I just recently added 6 panels to my system (added e-car) and Pamela at Simmitri handled my project. Communication throughout the project was excellent and the crew, once again were FANTASTIC! Simmitri is a pleasure to work with.

We can say that installing and working with Simmitri was a seamless experience. They did exactly as they say they would. The staff is amazing to work with, especially the Project Manager Pamela Rodriguez and the Sales Manager Lonnie Cory. The installation crew was fast, clean and friendly. All in all, a great experience working with them from the beginning... and continuing. We are so happy with our new system!

What Makes a Heat Pump Different?

The fundamental difference between a heat pump and a conventional HVAC system comes down to how each one generates comfort. Traditional systems — gas furnaces in particular — burn fossil fuels to produce heat. A heat pump does something far more efficient: it moves heat rather than creating it.

During cooler months, a heat pump extracts heat energy from the outdoor air and transfers it into your home. During warmer months, the process reverses — it pulls heat out of your indoor air and expels it outside, effectively cooling your living space. This transfer-based approach requires significantly less energy than combustion-based systems, which translates directly into lower utility bills year-round.

The U.S. Department of Energy has documented that heat pumps can reduce electricity use for heating by approximately 65% compared to electric resistance heating systems. For California homeowners who have historically relied on gas furnaces, the difference can be even more pronounced when factoring in fuel costs and the state’s aggressive push toward electrification.

Beyond energy savings, heat pumps also benefit indoor air quality. Because there is no combustion occurring inside the home, there are no byproducts of burning fossil fuels circulating through your living spaces — a meaningful advantage for households with allergy or respiratory concerns.

Heat Pump Installation and Replacement

Installing a heat pump is one of the most impactful decisions a homeowner can make for their home’s long-term energy performance. Done properly, a well-selected and correctly sized system will deliver efficient, consistent comfort for years. Done without proper planning, it leads to performance issues, unnecessary energy waste, and a shortened system lifespan.

We offer heat pump installation and full system replacement services that begin with a thorough consultation and evaluation of your home. Proper system sizing accounts for your home’s square footage, insulation levels, ceiling heights, window placement, local climate conditions, and existing ductwork — all of which affect how the system will perform in your specific situation. Skipping this step is one of the most common mistakes in HVAC installation, and it is a mistake our licensed technicians are trained to prevent.

For homeowners converting from a traditional gas furnace and air conditioner setup, a heat pump replacement simplifies your home’s HVAC system into a single, unified unit that handles both heating and cooling — reducing maintenance complexity and improving overall energy efficiency in the process.

Financing options are available for qualifying homeowners who want to invest in a new heat pump system without bearing the full cost upfront.

Heat Pump Repair

Even the best-maintained heat pump will eventually require professional attention. When something goes wrong, the symptoms are usually noticeable — but identifying the root cause and correcting it properly requires a trained eye and the right diagnostic tools.

We offer reliable heat pump repair services that prioritize lasting solutions. Common warning signs that indicate your system needs professional evaluation include difficulty reaching or maintaining a set temperature, higher-than-expected utility bills without an obvious explanation, uneven airflow or temperature inconsistencies throughout the home, unusual sounds such as grinding, rattling, or clicking during operation, or drainage issues near the system’s components. Each of these points to a specific underlying problem, and allowing any of them to go unaddressed typically leads to more extensive damage over time.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends keeping HVAC systems in proper working order not only for energy efficiency, but also for the impact a poorly functioning system can have on indoor air quality. Our technicians diagnose the issue accurately, explain it clearly, and complete repairs using quality components designed to last. Emergency repair services are also available for situations that cannot wait for regular business hours.

Heat Pump Maintenance

Preventive maintenance is the most cost-effective investment you can make in your heat pump system. A system that receives regular professional care runs more efficiently, maintains more stable comfort levels, experiences fewer unexpected breakdowns, and lasts significantly longer than one that goes without routine service.

We offer annual heat pump maintenance that includes a full inspection of all mechanical and electrical components, cleaning of coils and drainage systems, refrigerant level verification, thermostat calibration, and a complete performance assessment. Scheduling this service in advance of peak demand — before the hottest or coldest stretch of the year — ensures your system is prepared to perform reliably when you need it most.

Maintaining your heat pump also works hand-in-hand with Simmitri’s broader home energy ecosystem. When your heat pump is running efficiently alongside residential solar panels and a home battery storage system, the result is a home that generates its own energy, stores it intelligently, and uses it as efficiently as possible — reducing dependence on the grid and protecting you from rising utility rates.

Part of a Smarter Home Energy Strategy

A heat pump is a powerful standalone improvement — but it becomes even more valuable as part of an integrated home energy strategy. Simmitri’s residential services are designed to work together. Pairing an efficient heat pump with solar energy production, battery backup, and EV smart charging creates a home that is more resilient, more efficient, and far less vulnerable to the kind of utility rate increases California homeowners have come to expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. A heat pump handles both heating and cooling in a single system, making it a direct replacement for a traditional furnace-and-AC setup. For most California climates, a heat pump offers the same or better comfort while consuming significantly less energy than running two separate systems.

Modern heat pump technology has improved significantly in recent years. Most systems today operate efficiently down to temperatures well below freezing, making them a viable year-round solution in California's climate. A licensed technician can help determine the right system specification for your specific location and conditions.

With regular professional maintenance, a well-installed heat pump can last 15 to 20 years. Annual service visits are the single most effective way to extend your system's lifespan and prevent costly repairs before they develop into larger failures.

Watch for difficulty maintaining your set temperature, unexplained increases in utility bills, uneven airflow between rooms, unusual mechanical sounds during operation, or water accumulating near the system. Any of these warrants a professional evaluation to prevent the issue from worsening.
